Formerly head of science and assistant head teacher in a large and highly successful technology college in the South West of England, Steve is currently an independent science education consultant and the STEM Lead for the Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire Science Learning Partnership.

He has a passion for practical science education and Steve trains and supports aspiring and practising teachers so as to improve the quality of teaching and learning through professional development. He is a Royal Society of Chemistry and STEM Learning approved trainer and author of chemistry training materials and has worked for both organisations running teacher development programmes in the UK and Internationally.

Since September 2011 Steve has been presenting and leading professional training and has been the senior tutor on the Subject Knowledge Enhancement course for chemistry formerly based at At Bristol science centre (now called “We the Curious”). During that time he also led the DfE Triple Science support programme in the South West and the Midlands. Steve’s work is consistently highly evaluated.

In addition, he works closely with middle and senior leaders in schools to develop strategies to raise achievement and improve engagement of young people and their teachers in science and to encourage them embrace science, technology, engineering and maths as a hook for learning.
